Free & open
Open resources for Nigerian languages.
Everything here is free to use. We build in the open so any family or classroom can pick it up — no cost, no barriers — and so anyone who speaks a Nigerian language can help it grow.
Our flagship project In development
An open-source learning game built for Nigerian languages.
There are few Nigerian language-learning games, and fewer that are free. We are building a large, open-source language-learning game by adapting GCompris, an open-source multi-platform suite of learning games for children. In doing so, we are adapting it into something built for language learning, specifically Nigerian language learning. This includes a focus on features shared across a number of Nigerian languages. More than vocabulary, we put a major focus on pronunciation and tonality games. For an early, standalone example of this kind of game, try our Phonics Game.
Because the project is open-source, it belongs to the community that builds it, not to our nonprofit alone. Extending it to a new language takes as little as one or two volunteers: someone to translate words and phrases, and someone to record them spoken aloud. There is no list of priority languages. Any language with volunteers becomes a priority language. The final product is totally free.

Why open
Free to use, free to build on.
We keep our games and materials open on purpose. Teachers can adapt them, developers can contribute, speakers can add their language, and families never hit a paywall. Heritage shouldn't be locked behind a price.
Want to help it grow?
If you speak a Nigerian language, teach, or build software, you can help us add languages and reach more children.
